Maximising the efficiency of every gearbox depends on the control of friction. Gearbox friction generates excessive heat, putting thermal stress on system components which causes wear and pitting. This shortens the life of component parts and reduces gear box performance, causing unscheduled downtime and replacement/labour costs.

Castrol Optigear is a range of leading high-performance gear oils formulated with MFT (MicrofluxTrans) Plastic Deformation technology. Castrol Optigear is proven to lower the coefficient of friction by up to 60% compared to standard gear oils, actively resisting wear and pitting.

Castrol Optigear BM Series
High Performance Mineral Gear Oils with MFT -Low friction gear oils that Optimise Efficiency. Solid-free high-performance gear oils containing the additive combination MicrofluxTransTM (MFT). Designed to reduce the wear caused by surface fatigue, pitting, spalling, scuffing, scoring or irregularities during the running-in period and during normal operations. In a tribological system, the polarized MICROFLUX TRANS additives instantaneously create a passive film on friction surfaces before friction occurs. Available Series : BM 100, 150, 220, 320 & 460 Advantages 1. High Performance Mineral Gear Oils with MFT PD technology – Castrol’sMicroflux Trans (MFT) Plastic Deformation (PD) additive helps improve performance when operating temperature and loads reach a certain level of activation energy, by enabling the micro-smoothing of surface roughness without increasing wear. The smoothed surface delivers optimum wear protection and an extremely low coefficient of friction, especially in applications which experience extreme pressure, shock loads, vibrations or low speeds. MFT PD helps to protect against scuffing and shock loading, while maintaining a high load-carrying capacity and can help prevent the progression of micro-pitting in pre-damaged gears.

Castrol Optigear Synthetic X Series

High-Performance Synthetic Gear Oils – Castrol Optigear™ Synthetic X is based on synthetic hydrocarbons and Castrol’s Microflux Trans (MFT) Plastic Deformation (PD) additive and surface improvement additive package. The additive package, when activated by high specific loads and corresponding temperatures, helps to equalize surface roughness without creating abrasion leading to the surface improvement.

Castrol Optigear Synthetic 800 Series
High performance Polyalkyleneglycol (PAG) based Synthetic gear oils -Developed for the lubrication of heavily loaded gears, bushings and bearings which may operate over a broad range of temperatures They feature chemical and thermal stability, high viscosity index, water solubility, and compatibility with metals and elastomers most commonly used in machine construction. The naturally high resistance to oxidation of the synthetic base fluid is further enhanced by inhibitors. Also, a package of high-performance additives acts in combination for superior anti-wear and Extreme Pressure (EP) performance.
